Romanian range from Halewood

07 January, 2011

Halewood International has launched a new range of Romanian wines under the name La Umbra.

The single estate wines come from vineyards in Dealu Mare, Murfatlar and Transylvania and have an rrp of £5.99.

The range comprises Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Merlot Rosé and Pinot Noir.

Don Muntean, managing director of Halewood Romania, said La Umbra was inspired by the tradition in Romania to enjoy fresh, youthful wines while sitting in the shade of a large tree.

Halewood has declined to comment on South African press reports that it is eyeing up an acquisition of the country’s KWV wine operation.
