07 January, 2011

Former Spar wine trading manager Liz Aked is back in the buying team at Asda.

She will handle buying from the US and South Africa while working on the company’s recently announced UK bottling initiative.

Aked said: “It’s fantastic to have joined the young, dynamic and innovative team at Asda after 16 years at Spar.

“It’s great to see a friendly face and to be working with Asda’s MW Philippa Carr once again. It is such an exciting time for the entire team who are passionate about wine and delivering the best possible quality to our consumers. I’m honoured to be a part of it.”?Asda recently announced plans to source most of its wines directly from producers and to bottle more wines in the UK.
