Wholesaler back in business

Eastenders has reopened its six depots closed after an HMRC raid.

A worker at the wholesaler’s Leyton depot told OLN the warehouses, which shut after a dawn swoop on 12 business premises and 17 homes across the south east and the Midlands led to 20 arrests (OLN, December 10), opened again on December 18. The anonymous source said staff were hopeful the business would keep operating.

HMRC was investigating a suspected £50 million excise duty and VAT fraud linked to the abuse of the international bonded warehouse scheme.
