Arran unveils first peated single malt

Isle of Arran Distillers is launching its first peated single malt, under the name Machrie Moor.

The whisky will be released on allocation and is expected to sell for about £39.99 in the UK.

It is named after a peat moor on the west coast of Arran and is bottled at 46% abv.

“I wanted to create a whisky where the character and taste of Arran remained that our followers love, but add something different with a peat flourish,” said master distiller James MacTaggart.

Only 9,000 bottles will be available for the first edition of what will become an annual limited release.

Hofmeister may need more than the bear essentials to succeed

So, George The Bear is back. It’s hard for some of us oldies to fathom, but there are those under, say, 40 who can’t actually remember Hofmeister and feel the cultural jolt supplied by the return of both the bear and the beer whose marketing campaigns it used to front.
