Andrew Peace in sports ads tie-up

Australian wine brand Andrew Peace is spending a six-figure sum on perimeter advertising at high-profile cricket and rugby league matches in 2011.

The cricket deal is for 15 televised matches including England one-day and T20 matches in the summer, while the rugby league ads will be at 15 matches in the Super League and Championship after the new season starts in February.

Admitting that there was an irony in an Australian brand being associated with English cricket, brand owner Andrew Peace added: “I’m really excited about the development of our brand in the UK.”

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
