Glenfiddich art on show in London

21 January, 2011

An exhibition of works from the Glenfiddich artists in residence programme will run at London’s Fleming Gallery from January 25 to February 26.

The Reflecting Glenfiddich exhibition will be the first show of work from the scheme to take place outside of Scotland.

The programme invites artists from around the world to take up a three-month residency at the distillery every year and to produce works inspired by Glenfiddich’s history, heritage, people and craftsmanship. Some 70 artists from 25 countries have attended in the past decade.

The London show will feature the works of 15 artists including Alison Watt, Kenny Hunter and Alex Frost from the UK, Stefanie Bourne from France and Qi Xing from China.

Works include sculpture, poetry, painting and photography.

“While the artwork that has been produced over the years has varied wildly, the dedication, time, craftsmanship and skill which underpin the artists in residence programme – and indeed our whisky – has remained unchanged,” said curator Andy Fairgrieve.
