21 January, 2011

National Wine Month has launched a website to show the trade how to get involved with the industry initiative planned for May.

The site,, outlines the objectives as well as detailing activities, acknowledging supporters and providing free promotional tools.

Ian Harris, chief executive of the Wine & Spirit Education Trust and co-ordinator of the event, said: “The aim of National Wine Month is to bring the trade together under one promotional umbrella to create a peak of awareness for wine.

“The success of the initiative is dependent on the support of the trade, so the website is there to give companies the information and tools to support National Wine Month to the benefit of their own businesses.”?Materials such as the logo, posters, banners, tent cards and stickers will all be downloadable direct from the website for free. Users will have the option to tailor the information with their own branding. The site will also include media relations guidelines.

“Our aim is to encourage businesses of all shapes and sizes to participate in National Wine Month and the website is a great resource to inspire and facilitate involvement whether it’s a wine tasting, poster or promotional idea,” added Harris.

A consumer website will go live in April. The WSET will be running a programme of educational activities in May aimed at consumers, including an online Make Time for Wine course accessible from the consumer website.

More than 20 companies have pledged financial and practical support for National Wine Month.
