Fairtrade discounts on Co-operative wines

The Co-operative is celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight with some discounts on wines from South Africa, Chile and Argentina.

Fairtrade Chilean Merlot Rosé is reduced from £5.49 to £4.49; Organic Argentine Malbec Reserve 2009 is down £1 to £5.99; and Cape Sparkling Rosé NV is on offer at £6.49, £2 below the regular price.

Five more Fairtrade wines have been reduced from £5.99 to £4.99 and three South African wines are on promotion at three for £12.

The discounts begin on February 9 and run until March 15, taking in Fairtrade Fortnight which runs from February 28 to March 13.

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas

All across England and Wales, vineyards are being harvested. Down winding country lanes come armies of welly-wearing conscripts wielding secateurs and buckets, ready to reap the rewards of our vines. Happily they come, their cheeks ruddy with pride. Half an hour later they’re crawling over muddy clods with lacerated hands, drenched in claggy juice and cold sweat, as if ploughing through an endurance race.
