Asda's McKeon takes Netto role

31 January, 2011

Asda’s beers wines and spirits category director, Adrian McKeon, is joining Netto after a year in his current role.

Netto is being absorbed into the Asda estate and 147 stores will be rebadged by the autumn. McKeon will be working independently of Asda until the deal is completed in his role as integration trading director.

His job title after the transition phase is over will be trading director.

An Asda spokesperson said: “This is a great move for Ade. His extensive trading experience as well as the significant contribution he has made to Asda in the last 12 months will be a real asset to driving the Netto trading proposition forward.”

During McKeon’s secondment, Asda BWS team will report directly to Barry Williams, commercial director for grocery.

McKeon joined Asda 12 months ago from Cobra Beer, having previously headed up Beam Global in the UK.

Asda announced the takeover of Netto in May. The Office of Fair Trading has ordered that 47 of the stores are sold to a third party, and Asda has so far secured deals for 39 of the branches with Haldanes, Iceland and Morrisons.
