Walker takes Heineken off-trade role

Heineken UK has appointed Doug Walker as head of off-trade customer marketing, with immediate effect.

Walker replaces Heyes, who left the company last November.

He will lead a 20-strong team responsible for marketing brands including Heineken, Foster’s, Strongbow, Kronenbourg 1664, John Smith’s and Bulmers Original.

Walker joins the business from US multinational Newell Rubbermaid, where he successfully launched pen brand Sharpie and the Goody range of hair accessories into the European market.

Prior to that he held senior customer and consumer marketing roles with Mars, Coca-Cola and Nestlé.

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
