TV host Olly Smith unveils his own glass

Wine writer-broadcaster and Off Licence News contributor Olly Smith is launching his own wine glass.?Olly Smith’s the Glass has been produced by the critic in conjunction with glassware producer Zalto and is a modification of the maker’s Universal model.?The glass is hand-made by glassblowers and has been designed to store and wash easily and be less breakable.?Smith and Zalto said the aim was

to produce a glass that was “good

enough for the professionals, and

both elegant and practical for use at home”.?Each glass is £22.50 and can be purchased from wine accessory retailer Around Wine or Smith’s own website recently launched his own wine phone app and is the presenter of new Channel 4 series The Secret Supper Club, which screens on Saturday afternoons.

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas

All across England and Wales, vineyards are being harvested. Down winding country lanes come armies of welly-wearing conscripts wielding secateurs and buckets, ready to reap the rewards of our vines. Happily they come, their cheeks ruddy with pride. Half an hour later they’re crawling over muddy clods with lacerated hands, drenched in claggy juice and cold sweat, as if ploughing through an endurance race.
