La Fée Absinthe has sponsored the launch of The Decadent Handbook in central London. Designed for the modern libertine, it features contributions by the "bad, dangerous and eccentric free spirits of contemporary society". La Fée has listings with Tesco, Threshers, and at duty-free shops in Heathrow and Gatwick.

The pleasures of matching whisky with chocolate will be explored at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society in Edinburgh on Dec 11. Hosting the event will be Bertrand Espouy, from the Royal Mile's Plaisir du Chocolate.

Maxxium UK's managing director Huw Pennell has been awarded the honorary position of member of The Keepers of the Quaich - an exclusive, non-profit making society founded by the leading Scotch whisky distillers. Pennell was made an official Keeper at a traditional ceremony and grand banquet at Blair Castle in Perthshire. The society currently has 1,647 members worldwide.

Rare Malts: Facts, Figures and Taste, by Swedish malt whisky authority Ulf Buxrud, has been published in the UK. The 176-page hardback book is an account of all 36 whiskies featured in Diageo's Rare Malts Selection series.

Malibu is bringing a slice of musical mayhem to student unions up and down the country with the Malibu Soundclash. At the UK's top universities new DJs can battle it out live on stage in an experience that takes on the heritage of Caribbean soundsystem battles.

Havana Club International is launching a new blend of its Añejo Especial rum. Matured in oak barrels, it is made from a blend of golden rums ranging from two to five years old. Replacing the current Especial on the market, the product will retain the same recommended retail price of £15.99.

It’s all true. Wine writers loaf around in a state of partial inebriation and partial undress, bitching about having to taste free wine all day and using recondite words like malolactic, terroir and recondite.
