Anheuser-Busch will promot e Budweiser with a national TV ad campaign starting on Feb 12. Thirty-second spots showing friends bouncing bottles of Bud on a rubber floor will run for three weeks on terrestrial, cable and satellite TV. Group marketing controller Vicki Kipling said: "Consumers have come to expect funny and distinct advertisements from Budweiser, and we're really excited to be back on TV with a humorous campaign." The campaign comes as A-B launches its biggest promotion, Bud Bucks ( page 28).
Buckingham-San Pedro split
Chilean wine producer Viña San Pedro is parting company with UK wine importing agency Buckingham Vintners International. The group and Finca La Celia, its subsidiary from Argentina, will announce a new distributor in due course. VSP's export director, Stuart Downes, said the two companies had enjoyed a long trading relationship but were ending their association because they wanted to pursue their own objectives in the UK market.
Taylor makes it natural
Whisky producer Duncan Taylor has launched a range of "natural" single malt Scotch whiskies. Whisky in the NC2 collection is aged 10 years and bottled by hand in Aberdeenshire. The range will be packaged in a gold embossed black tube and will be available from whisky merchants, priced from £30.
S&N in court battle
Scottish & Newcastle is taking consultancy firm Price waterhouseCoopers to court, saying that PWC gave it advice designed to cut costs, which actually made the company spend more money. The brewer, which filed the claim last year, was advised on the restructuring of supply arrangements at its UK-based Scottish Courage subsidiary between 2001 and 2003. But in February 2003 S&N blamed the restructuring, and ballooning associated costs, for a profits warning that led to a sharp fall in its share price. S&N is thought to be claiming damages of £10 million.
The Cava Institute of Spain will hold an official major tasting of more than 70 cavas at a central London location on Feb 13 from 11am. Sally Easton MW will lead the tasting and will explore both traditional styles and newer developments. Attendance is by invitation only. Trust cash for Benevolent
