It's easy to sit back and complain about the multiples, but with a bit of ≠effort you can compete in your range and price. We've tried making our own hampers as a point of difference. You can fill them with Champagne, fine wine or whisky and sell them for £15 or more. Why not

fill a hamper with real ales for men, and Champagne, chocolates and candles for women. It's these little things that will draw in customers.

Hofmeister may need more than the bear essentials to succeed

So, George The Bear is back. Itís hard for some of us oldies to fathom, but there are those under, say, 40 who canít actually remember Hofmeister and feel the cultural jolt supplied by the return of both the bear and the beer whose marketing campaigns it used to front.
