Tri-curious get a chance to try something new

23 February, 2007

Napa Valley's Folie a Deux is the latest winery to release a tri-varietal wine in the UK.

The Ménage à Trois range includes a white, a red and a rosé, which mix popular grape varieties with more unusual ones. The white is a blend of Chardonnay, Muscat and Chenin Blanc, the red of Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and the rosé of Merlot, Syrah and Gewürztraminer.

The range, aimed at independents, will be supplied by PLB, retailing at around £6.99.

PLB marketing manager Claire Summersby said: "The wines are well-made, approachable and affordable. They also have real personality, both in the taste profile and the packaging - a little cheeky, a little risqué and a whole lot of fun! We think they will work really well in this market."

Pernod Ricard recently launched a tri-varietal range called Three Vines .

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas
