COMPETITION Inspired cocktail from top white Jamaican rum

To celebrate the launch of its signature cocktail, the St Catherine, Wray & Nephew has teamed up with OLN to offer one reader the chance to win a six-bottle case of its Overproof Rum.

The St Catherine was created by mixologist Deano Moncrieffe in response to the growing popularity of this classic white Jamaican rum. The inspiration for the St Catherine comes straight from the colours of Jamaica's own landscape in St Catherine, according to Moncrieffe.

Wray & Nephew's reputation reaches ­staggering proportions in its native Jamaica where it accounts for 90 per cent of all rum sold on the island.

To create the St Catherine, cut 12 white grapes in half and muddle in a Boston glass with eight mint leaves. Add 2.5cl of Wray & Nephew and 2.5cl of gooseberry & mint cordial. Add crushed ice, lightly shake all ingredients and pour into rocks glass. Garnish with a sprig of mint and a grape.

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
