Grogan's early day motion urg es supermarkets to cut down on cheap alcohol promotions and has attracted 186 signatures since it was tabled in December last year. Grogan said the meeting would give supermarkets the chance to answer back . He said: "It's a chance for them to justify their pricing. "
Tesco, Sainsbury's, Co-op, Asda and Waitrose have all defended their positions in the supermarket industry, and the Association of Convenience Stores has called on the Competition Commission to delve deeper into the market.
