Booths celebrates with own-label

06 April, 2007

Booths is celebrating its 160th anniversary with a specially brewed ale - and is giving staff in its 26 shops the chance to design the label for the bottle.

Booths Anniversary Ale 160 will be brewed for the occasion by the Daleside Brewery in Harrogate, and will be launched at a beer and cider festival in Booths stores in June. An expert panel, including someone from Daleside Brewery, will judge entries in the label design competition.

Beer buyer Dave Smith said: "It seemed appropriate for us to toast Booths's 160th year with a special celebratory ale, which is brewed right here in the region we serve. We also wanted to give our staff the chance to show off their artistic flair. There's no better product than a locally brewed ale to get those creative juices flowing."

The winner of the design competition will be given a case of the special beer and a case of Booths's own -label 1847 anniversary cider . His or her name and store will appear on the back of the bottle.
