The company, which jointly owns Baltika with Carlsberg through Baltic Beverages Holding, has signed a licence agreement to brew the beer brand in the UK until the end of 2021. The 4.8 per cent abv pale lager, which is already on limited availability in the UK on-trade, will be rolled out to the off-trade in May. It will be produced and filled in 33cl glass bottles at S&N's Camerons Brewery in Hartlepool, and four-packs will also be available to the off-trade.
A consumer marketing campaign including press advertising will support the launch. The brand also appeared on perimeter boards ads at the John Smith's Grand National.
International director of S&N John Nicolson said: "Baltika is Russian for beer. In just 15 years, our colleagues in St Petersburg have grown Baltika into Russia's best-known consumer brand, both at home and abroad."
