Calories count for alcohol

Health minister Caroline Flint has warned that the government is looking at including calorie information on UK drinks labels. Speaking at the Wine & Spirit Trade Association's spring conference, Flint said: "Obesity is an issue in the UK and we are looking into labelling calorie intake on alcohol at the present time." Flint said she has urged the Food Standards Agency to include alcohol intake as part of the wider issue of the nation's diet .

De Mellow quits Majestic

Majestic marketing director Steve de Mellow is to leave the company. No official statement had been made as OLN went to press.

Designed to encourage consumers to enjoy Harveys Bristol Cream chilled, it will appear on 75cl and 1-litre bottles for eight weeks and forms part of Beam's For Chilled Out Occasions campaign.

Looking back to look forward

Wine is a liquid time capsule. Drinking older vintages not only recalls the weather conditions and winemaking styles of the past, it encourages us to reflect upon our own histories. Such reminiscence often inclines towards romanticised nostalgia. Especially after the second bottle. But looking back is a great way of learning about the future.
