Wine consultant Riccardo Cotarella is hosting a tutored tasting of top Italian wines in London on May 8. Twenty-five producers who have employed Cotarella as a consultant will present their portfolios at the Mermaid Conference & Events centre in Blackfriars. Constellation is aiming to tell more than 1.5 million people about its red wine and chocolate drink through a nationwide sampling campaign. Samplings will take place at 250 multiple shops and at sports, fashion and lifestyle events over the next few months. Rubis , a fortified red wine infused with chocolate, comes in a 50cl bottle with an rrp of £5.99.
Bordeaux's Ecole du Vin has introduced a course to its programme which allows participants hands-on involvement in the wine harvest. Destination Wine Harvest is a two-day course which starts with an introduction at the Ecole du Vin before heading out to the Sauternes and Médoc regions to follow grapes from the vine to the vat room. Courses take place on Sep 22 and 23 and Oct 6 and 7 and cost e450 per person.
Halewood International's wine division, Chalié Richards, has launched a three-strong port range. Gilberts Port consists of a ruby and a white with an rrp of £5.99, and a Late Bottled Vintage with an rrp of £8.59. All three have secured listings in Asda and will be in stores by May 19. The range will also be on show at the LIWSF.
