Black's back with major campaign

Diageo is ploughing £2 million into a new ad campaign for Guinness .

A TV ad w ill show words describing Guinness - such as "velvety" - being poured into a glass then surging and settling to form a pint of the black stuff.

The campaign also includes press, outdoor and digital advertising .

Senior brand manager Steve Hamilton said: " This new advertising campaign aims to increase consumer awareness of Guinness over the summer period and make the black stuff top-of-mind as consumers head out to enjoy barbecues ."

Guinness slipped out of the top 10 beer brands in OLN's Brands Report, compiled with Nielsen, in February.

Hofmeister may need more than the bear essentials to succeed

So, George The Bear is back. Itís hard for some of us oldies to fathom, but there are those under, say, 40 who canít actually remember Hofmeister and feel the cultural jolt supplied by the return of both the bear and the beer whose marketing campaigns it used to front.
