Never underestimate the draw of an own-label wine, especially if the label is quirky or amusing. Display it near the till and it provides an excellent conversation opener for your customers. Our own-label bears the name of our park and highlights that this is Last of the Summer Wine country.

We buy a variety of back-label only French wines from Booker which are really affordable and also enjoyable. Our customers tend to buy them not only as original souvenirs and gifts, but also as a regular everyday wine to drink.

In case anyone thinks we are being deceivingly unpatriotic, another of our best-sellers is a locally produced range of fruit wines from Splash Winery.

Looking back to look forward

Wine is a liquid time capsule. Drinking older vintages not only recalls the weather conditions and winemaking styles of the past, it encourages us to reflect upon our own histories. Such reminiscence often inclines towards romanticised nostalgia. Especially after the second bottle. But looking back is a great way of learning about the future.
