Poetic (off) licence

Where do you think the musings below were taken from?

"It's very late. But it's Friday night, so who cares? We're in a quiet spot, sunk deep into purple cushions in old leather armchairs ... The music is low, the lights are dimmed. We can't even see how anyone could copy it ... In fact, in this dark spot, we can hardly see anything at all. Outside on the beach, someone is having a barbeque. The flames look deep red and purple from the terrace bar. The sizzle of the steaks reaches us, then the richness of the aroma. Soft and ripe. Blackcurrant, in the darkness."

A poetic traveller's blog perhaps? Or an elaborate postcard home? Nope, simply the "tasting note" on the back label of Constellation's new Cabernet/Merlot Melbourne Lounge wine.

Brings a tear to the eye, doesn't it? Best not read the back of the Chardonnay/Pinot Grigio then, which conjures up a puzzling scenario of "ripe apricots, oranges and melon" spilling out "onto the dewy, green grass in the garden below". OLN hacks prefer their wine to stay in the glass, thank you.

Breaking up with Burgundy

Making my way through the recent tranche of Burgundy tastings for the much-hyped 2015 vintage, I found myself experiencing a moment of guilt.
