Never too old to be challenged

01 June, 2007

This is in reply to Simon Briggs' letter (OLN, May 18) about the age limit being increased , the Challenge 25 policy coming into effect, and him having to "face another seven years of ID checks". Poor boy - it's a hard life.

Just think how I feel . I've been working in the off-licence business for 10 years

and I was recently refused entrance to a pub

as they have the Challenge 21 policy. The only

acceptable ID

is my passport, and I don't carry that round with me. Why should I? I'm in my 30s, for God's sake!

So just to put your mind at rest, Simon, it probably won't be just the seven years you're going to be ID'd. Anyway in a few years' time you'll take it as a compliment and laugh about it with your mates, but just remember the one important thing so

you can get that well-earned pint after a†hard day's work ... take your ID with†you.
