Jancis to open Plumpton winery

27 June, 2007

The official opening of Plumpton College’s new wine centre, which will form the centrepiece of the college's winemaking and viticulture courses, is due to take place on Friday (June 29).

The building at the college in East Sussex houses a fully equipped 50 tonne-capacity winery, two modern laboratories, a tiered lecture suite, a dedicated wine tasting room, offices and an events room.

Wine writer and broadcaster Jancis Robinson MW will open the new building which will be used for education, research and promoting the development of the wine industry in the UK.

A brand new winery at Plumpton College was completed in 2005. Six hectares of vines at the site produce over 10,000 bottles of wine a year.
