05 July, 2007

Greene King has reported off-trade sales growth with volume sales up 6.5 per cent on last year.

The Suffolk brewer made a pre-tax profit of £139.8 million during the year to April 29, a 17 per cent increase on the previous year.

Old Speckled Hen grew its market share by 0.3 per cent and in the multiple retailers it increased its market share from 9.8 per cent to 10.3 per cent. Greene King said Nielsen data showed its value share of ale grew by 0.5 per cent to 8.8 per cent.

Rooney Anand, Greene King chief executive, said he was pleased that the company had seen strong performances across all divisions.

“These record results are another step in over four decades of uninterrupted profit growth,” he said.
