White Zinfandel for independents

Discovery Wines has launched a White Zinfandel exclusively for the independent sector. The wine, the first in the Discovery Beach range, is sourced from premium vineyards in California's Lodi region. The wine will be bottled in screwcap with an rrp of £4.49. Company co-founder Antony McIndoe said: "Interest in Discovery Beach has exceeded our expectations with a number of significant listings already lined up."

The Argento Wine Company has also launched a rosé, described as a "fuller, richer-style" from 100 per cent Malbec . With an rrp of £5.99, Argento Malbec Rosé 2007 is

sourced at an altitude 900 to 1000m in the Maipú region of Mendoza .

Looking back to look forward

Wine is a liquid time capsule. Drinking older vintages not only recalls the weather conditions and winemaking styles of the past, it encourages us to reflect upon our own histories. Such reminiscence often inclines towards romanticised nostalgia. Especially after the second bottle. But looking back is a great way of learning about the future.
