Bibendum is developing its website, which launched last year, to give trade customers the chance to order online - part of a major branding exercise. Range extensions include Noble Dragon from China, Newton Johnson and Saam Mountain from South Africa, Marmesa and Dry Creek Vineyard from California, Farina and Dominio de Valdepusa from Spain, and Castellan í from Italy. Bibendum has appointed off-trade sales director Richard Cochrane to its board and made Western Wines founder Roger Gabb a non-executive director.

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas

All across England and Wales, vineyards are being harvested. Down winding country lanes come armies of welly-wearing conscripts wielding secateurs and buckets, ready to reap the rewards of our vines. Happily they come, their cheeks ruddy with pride. Half an hour later they’re crawling over muddy clods with lacerated hands, drenched in claggy juice and cold sweat, as if ploughing through an endurance race.
