Red wine additions include three Pinot Noirs from Villa Maria, Reserve Syrah from Gimblett Gravels, Zinfandel from Kemblefield and Cabernet/Merlot from Trinity Hill. The listings will more than double Tesco's NZ offering to 44 lines.
New Zealand wine buyer James Davis said: "Although inherent to our business, New Zealand is not just about Sauvignon Blanc, and we wanted to show our customers the best of what New Zealand has to offer in terms of varietals, regional diversity and premium offerings."
As part of the review, it will also introduce three new forms of wine packaging aimed at reducing environmental impact. An Arniston Bay 1.5-litre pouch, Wolf Blass PET bottle and Banrock Station 1-litre tetra paks are part of Tesco's push to reduce packaging by 25 per cent by 2010.
The new-look range will reach shelves in August.
Tesco has also launched its 2008 Drinks Awards, giving producers the opportunity to win regional and national listings. Go to www.tescodrinksawards.co.uk for more information.
