Austrian wine supplier makes efforts to target UK market

01 August, 2007

An Austrian wine supplier has opened its first sales office in the UK in a bid to reach more UK consumers.

Kaiser Garten Wines (UK) opened today in Corby Glen, Grantham where it will supply wine from Austria's Burgenland region to all sectors of the UK trade.

A statement from the company said: "The UK portfolio has been reached after exhaustive tastings, research and discussions, resulting in wines showing the very best of Burgenland's micro-climate with fruit-driven flavours and aromas and grown in the most eco-friendly vineyards."

The UK office will be run by Jeremy Marshall Roberts. Anthony Proctor will be responsible for dealing with the UK off-trade.

Austrian wines have been available in the UK for several years, but Kaiser Garten said this move would build on the Austrian wine industry's efforts to develop the market.

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas
