Free Run joins plastic bottle push

09 August, 2007

Supplier Free Run Wines is the latest company to offer wine in PET bottles.

The Bordeaux-style bottles are “designed to combine the premium look and feel of glass with the modern convenience of PET” said the company.

A range of £3.99 French wines, targeted at the UK off-trade, will be developed over the next few months. From September, Free Run Wine’s French partner La Fiée des Lois will be able to fill the PET wine bottles at its premises.

Free Run director Charles Elms said: “Innovative packaging is playing an increasingly important role in the wine industry and PET bottles open up new opportunities where plastic is preferable to glass. We hope to develop this opportunity and are always keen to support the development of eco-friendly forms of packaging.” Contact Kate Eden for more details – kate@freerunwines.com or 01672 540990.
