Beers in pursuit of Robin Hood fans

23 August, 2007

A Nottingham brewery has launched a website in a bid to market its bottled beers across the UK, which are being targeted at fans of Robin Hood.

Sherwood Forest Fine Ales has six Robin Hood-themed beers, ranging from the light Bowman's Bounty strong pale ale to the dark Devout Stout imperial stout.

The company is run by Nottingham journalist and lecturer Jeff Clark-Meads and Canadian former chemical engineer David Allen, and already supplies Threshers through the Society of Independent Brewers' Direct Delivery Scheme.

Clark-Meads told OLN: "I'm conscious the real ale market is relatively small, whereas the Robin Hood market is much larger. We are aiming at everybody who has ever heard of Robin Hood. I'm hoping they buy our beer, realise it's wonderful and that we convert a few people."
