The Midlands cidermaker will hand out 50,000 specially made 33cl bottles of cider, each of which contains the recommended daily intake of alcohol. Staff will also be giving students alcohol unit calculators and advice leaflets.
The tour, which started this week, was announced after Aston Manor polled 15,000 students – and found that half of them did not know their recommended daily unit allowance.
Sales & marketing director Glenn Asquith said: “We might feel that the message about responsible consumption is understood, but the shocking results from our survey suggest there is no room for complacency. As well as supporting industry initiatives we felt it was important to do more which is why we have invested significant resources to talk directly to this important audience.”
